Description

The Illegal Wildlife Trade is one of the largest international illicit trade activities, generating over USD 7-23 billion annually, endangering species and hampering global nature-based tourism and trade. It may also pose public health and safety risks to aviation as wildlife traffickers exploit the increasing connectivity of global transportation. Given the extent of this illegal activity, it requires concerted efforts from all aviation stakeholders.

In this webinar, we cover:

Joint global efforts in the transport sector by the United for Wildlife Transport Taskforce and its Buckingham Palace Declaration
The USAID Reducing Opportunities for Unlawful Transport of Endangered Species (ROUTES) Partnership resources for raising awareness and training airport staff
Opening remarks are made by Juliana Scavuzzi, Senior Manager Environment at ACI World, and Alicia Grimes, ROUTES Project Manager, and Natural Resources Management Officer United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

About our speakers:

  • Rob Campbell leads UfW, a conservation initiative which unites the private sector in combating poaching and illegal wildlife trafficking. UfW Wildlife Transport Taskforce makes recommendations on how the transport industry can best respond to the crisis represented by the illegal wildlife trade.
  • Claire Beastall has led training sessions on wildlife trafficking for the aviation sector in Asia, Africa, and the Americas through the ROUTES Partnership. The Partnership has also developed targeted training materials to enable companies in the aviation sector to provide their own training for staff on this issue.

The webinar is hosted by Richard Crespin, CEO of CollaborateUp.
