Description
In April 2020, ACI World has issued guidance on best practices as airports adapt their airfield operations in response to the effects and impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The advisory bulletin, currently available on our ACI website, provides guidance on accommodating parked aircraft as well as the maintenance of airside infrastructure, the management of airside operations teams, and continuing essential cargo operations. For this webinar, not only are our presenters sharing their experience on how their airports have coped with the challenges surrounding reduced operations, but we also discuss ongoing business continuity and recovery plans in place to provide structure and guidance for airports towards the road to recovery.
About our speakers:
- Michael Bélanger, Director – Aviation Programs & Compliance, Greater Toronto Airports Authority, who will provide an overview of how the pandemic impacted GTAA’s airside operations and the ongoing mitigation measures they have put in place to maintain safe operations.
- Thomas Romig, Head Operations Control and Development, Genève Aéroport, who will provide some insights into their organization and structure for the planning and ramp-up phase towards recovery and resumption of operations in Geneva.
- David Gamper, Director, Safety, Technical and Legal Affairs at ACI World, who will be available during the Question & Answer portion to provide ACI’s perspective on any queries or concerns regarding the guidance and best practices shared through the advisory bulletin and next steps following Covid-19.
The webinar is hosted by Kevin Caron, ACI World’s Director Capacity Building Programmes.

The ACI World Business Partners (WBP) program is open to businesses working with airports or airport-related industries. This unique program offers members the opportunity to connect with a global network of airports, access valuable tools and resources, and discover new business opportunities.
In the least developed countries, financial resources for training can be limited, so the ACI Fund seeks to open the door to career development for individuals while, at the same time, building capacity and safeguarding and enhancing professional standards in this community of airports.
