Annual World Report – 2017 Airport Safety Data
This report is based on responses from 148 airports which submitted data for the year 2017.
Data required in the survey consist of key performance indicators commonly used by airports to assess their safety performance, identified by the ACI World Safety and Technical Standing Committee (WSTSC). Those indicators cover:
- Runway safety
- Taxiway safety
- Apron safety
- Wildlife strikes
- Safety culture
- Training
The ACI WSTSC is striving to encourage the use of the same set of standardized metrics by airports worldwide.
Facts and figures contained in the report essentially describe the characteristics of the sample constituted by airport responses. Descriptive statistics have been computed to summarize and describe data in the sample.
The safety data in this report will allow airports to:
- Prioritize critical areas
- Develop data-driven recommendations
- Measure improvement
- Support airports in developing their safety targets and strategic plans
