Integration of Hydrogen Aircraft into the Air Transport System: An Airports Operations and Infrastructure Review
ACI world, in partnership with ATI, developed a study to help airports better understand the implications of hosting hydrogen aircraft.
Airports would require a long time to prepare for such novel aircraft and their associated fueling infrastructure, should they come into service. This paper highlights some supply chain options to bring hydrogen into the airport, and ways of distributing this energy carrier around the airport. The safety, electrical energy, space, and infrastructure requirements of each option are highlighted. It provides an initial assessment to bridge the gap between aviation and hydrogen/energy providers to try to better understand the challenges and solutions of zero-carbon emission aircraft at airports.
